The next time you find yourself on Sixth Street, a stop at Parkside is a must. Owned by Austin-native Chef Shawn Cirkiel, the space pays homage to his family and is named for the housing project in the Bronx where his father grew up.

The two-story space is Austin’s first gastropub—opened in 2008—with farm-to-table ingredients and sustainable dining practices. Guests refer to the space as a haven as it is centered in the hustle of Sixth Street. Whether you are there for a casual dinner or choose the space to host a private event, Parkside guarantees you will feel welcomed and experience top-of-the-line service.

Parkside offers private dining and event spaces, perfect for any occasion. Because they have multiple spaces for events, they can accommodate a variety of groups, large or small, for seated dinners, buffets and cocktail parties. The space has been used for rehearsal dinners, birthday celebrations, wedding receptions, corporate events, hosted happy hours and more.

The second-floor event space can be rented for $3, 000 (plus a $300 patio privacy fee) and can set up to 100 guests or host 200 guests cocktail-reception style. A highlight of the space is the access to a rooftop patio that overlooks historic Sixth Street, as well as a private bar. Rental of this space includes tables, chairs and linens and they have AV equipment available for your use.

Should you have a smaller party, you can rent their private dining room for $3,000. This includes half of the modern-designed dining room divided with curtains. It can seat up to 40 guests and your rental includes tables and chairs.

Should you have a large party, you can negotiate an entire restaurant buyout of Parkside. This includes two floors of space, two bars and a rooftop patio, with space for a seated dinner of 200 guests or accommodations for a cocktail reception of 400 guests.

It is important to know when renting space at Parkside that their event space rentals are based on food and beverage minimums, and there is an 8.25 percent sales tax and 20 percent service charge as additional fees. Their menus change seasonally and with chef inspiration. There is the option to have a custom menu designed with the chef for your event. Favorites among guests include the Classic Ceviche Hors d’oeuvres and Family-style oyster platters.

Parkside is a great place for happy hour, as they offer half-off cocktails, beer and their bar food menu throughout the entire restaurant, available Monday – Friday from 5 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. The space is in good company, as Parkside is the flagship to Chef Cirkiel’s Parkside Projects, which also includes: the backspace, Olive & June, Bullfight and 800 Congress.
