Deep in the heart of Austin’s Rainey Street district lies L’Estelle House. You’ll feel right at home in the space, as the backhouse served as the family home built over 20 years ago, with inspiration coming from matriarch Estele Rainey.
The space is available for private events and is open to the public Fridays starting at 5:30 p.m., Saturdays starting at noon and Sundays starting at 10:30 a.m. An intimate space, it can accommodate up to 140 guests, and reservations are permitted for small groups of 8-14.
The walk-up kitchen of L’Estelle house combines French cooking with Southern favorites, to make dishes such as their Fancy Burger (Paris Style) with House Bearnaise, Arugula, Bleu or Havarti cheeses and a few pomme frites inside of a rustic Talera Roll. Guests note this is the place to go for a classier, late-night bite in a comfortable, down-home atmosphere.
Events take place on their private yard and rental prices start at $800 and can increase depending on the day and time. There is a food and drink minimum required for events that varies, as well, with delectable dishes coming from L’Estelle House’s own kitchen. The kitchen is known for cooking up off-menu specials as inspiration hits, resembling a traditional homestyle kitchen.
The owner first bought the property when Rainey Street was a forgotten residential neighborhood—a time which is hard to remember now with the hustle and bustle of the popular district. Wanting to honor his mother (who serves as an advisor for the kitchen), L’Estelle House was born as Rainey Street turned from quaint living space to its current status as a central nightlife spot in Austin. The owners decided to open their home and create a cozy, hospitable venue that welcomes guests into its family traditions.
Gather under the stars in a comfortable, relaxed yard and truly connect with the neighborhood and loved ones in this slice of Rainey Street history.
