If you’ve never heard of Justine’s Secret House, don’t worry—it really just is that much of a secret. Even their website is ominous. Entering a password takes you to a site with only photos and little information (the password is ‘surrealist’).

A short walk from the Plaza Saltillo MetroRail station will take you to the space, tucked away on East 7th Street near Waller. Once you pass through the New Orleans style courtyard, you are greeted by an opulent Victorian house, used exclusively for private events.

Justine’s Secret House is 1,020 square feet and includes a courtyard and backyard that add an additional 1,880 square feet to the space. The house and courtyard can host 150 people for a standing cocktail party. Seated dinner capacity ranges from 40-64 people, though they can accommodate larger parties if the backyard is rented, as well.

Events at Justine’s Secret House feel delightfully Victorian as their decor keeps with the theme of the architecture. Velvet lounge chairs, Victorian sitees and a wood bar with marble top make the atmosphere feel authentic and timeless. Chandeliers hang in every room, adding a classic touch.

Should you wish to have a full service event with food and drinks included, the famed Justine’s Brasserie is at your service. Blocks away on East 5th Street, they serve elegant French fare out of a charming eastside bungalow. Popular dishes include their Escargots à la Bourguignonne—or baked snails—and authentic Steak Tartare served topped with a raw egg. Bar service is also available, with multiple options including signature cocktails.
