Cafe Ruckus

Cafe Ruckus is a locally-owned coffee shop and tea room located on West Second Street in downtown Austin. It is a welcome space among the overly corporate coffee shops popping up all over the city.

The space is available for events, and Cafe Ruckus can accommodate 20 guests seated and 40 guests standing. Events can take place Monday through Friday and Sunday before noon (unless there is a festival or large event happening in the city) with no rental fee. At these times, guests simply need to purchase one beverage each. If you wish to use the space on a Saturday, a Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. or during a festival in Austin, there is a rental fee. During events the space is still available for other customers, but they sit outside and order from the window.

When it comes to entertainment, you are welcome to bring in your own music. The catch is that it must be completely original music, as they don’t have a license for copyrighted music to be played in the space.

If you and your guests would like something other than coffee, Cafe Ruckus sells beer, wine and prosecco—including locally-owned Austin BeerWorks—and you must choose from their offerings and cannot bring in your own beverages.

Cafe Ruckus is loved in the community, and guests enjoy the local vibe and ownership. On Sunday afternoons, the space transforms into a Victorian tea room, with bottomless loose leaf tea, finger sandwiches and their Sparkling High Tea package even includes glasses of wine and prosecco. This is just another element that makes Cafe Ruckus a gem of the city.
