Dunvegan Keep

Fairytales do exist, and that is especially true in South Austin at this one-of-a-kind venue. Dunvegan Keep is reminiscent of old world European romance, located on an acre-and-a-half.

The castle-like building was built stone by stone over the last 22 years, all by one person. Additionally, the majority of the artwork, sculptures, stained glass and mosaics were also created and handmade by the owner, making it a true representation of passion and love.

The space also features lush gardens, stone arches and old ironwork. A true focal point are the large oaks spread throughout the property, with antique chandeliers and moss hanging from the trees. The layout features Garden Rooms around the venue—the Fountain Area, Butterfly Area, a Tuscan-style Chapel/Reception Room, Merlin’s Tree (an old oak tree with elegant light strands), a beautiful Stone Cottage called “The Knight’s Retreat” and a gazebo. There are beautiful paths that have been laid to take you exploring around these nooks of the property.

Dunvegan Keep has two packages with pricing based on the number of guests. Their ‘40 and under’ package is $3,350 and their ‘65 and under’ package is $3,850. Should you have more guests, you must inquire with the owners.

The rental package includes 8 hours on the property, from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. (should you wish your event to be earlier, they will adjust the time accordingly). You also get an hour for rehearsal if you are having a wedding. Dunvegan Keep provides the tables, chairs and linens and will set up and tear down these items. You have access to an indoor chapel/reception room with heat and air conditioning, an indoor sound system, LED colored lighting and bottled water is provided for guests prior to an outdoor ceremony. They really have thought of everything.

When it comes to vendors, they do have a list of preferred caterers to provide, however, you can bring in your own as you wish. If you are serving alcohol, a TABC bartender is required.

They offer packages for those holding small weddings of 10 people or less and you can also rent the space by the hour for photo shoots.

Guests don’t feel they are doing justice when describing the space, but the words enchanted and magical are used constantly. The owners, after pouring their time and hearts into this space, are there every step of the way to make your event as unique and special as their venue.
